Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar, dismissed Wan Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Neslihan Sedal, and young people attended the workshop. DEM Young Women’s Assembly member Lorin Aryen Turgut made the first speech at the workshop, which started with a minute of silence.

Lorin Aryen Turgut said that Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been waging a political and philosophical struggle under severe isolation in İmralı for years: “This struggle keeps the hope of freedom alive not only for our people but for all humanity. We young women stand where this light first shines. We say that we are both the carrierrs and the creative power of this light. The process we are going through is not only a system crisis; it is also a great call for the reconstruction of a democratic society. In order to respond to this call, today more than ever, we need to turn to the paradigm of the Leader, which offers us an alternative perspective on life and struggle through its multifaceted analyses. The paradigm of democratic society puts women’s freedom at the center and proposes a radical transformation in mentality. This transformation relies on both our subjectivity as young women and our organisational leadership.”

Stating that no social problem can be solved until the historically chained identity of women is liberated, Lorin Aryen Turgut concluded: “We young women are the carries of this reality. In this world where the system of male domination is reproduced every day, our leader’s analyses give us the power to resist and rebuild. Our leader defines youth as the dynamism of the revolution and women as the moral and political pioneers. The democratic nation paradigm shows that a life outside the nation-state is possible. This life is possible with a system in which people are equal, free and women are pioneers. We young women are both the subjects, leaders and guarantors of this system."

During the cinevision screening after the speech, young people frequently chanted "Bijî serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)", "Bê Serok jiyan nabe" slogans.

The workshop continues closed to the press.
