ANKARA – Speaking to the parliamentary commission, Peace Mother Nezahat Teke said: “We know that Ocalan is making efforts for a solution. The commission should also meet with Ocalan and carry out the process together.”
The "National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission" is holding its 5th meeting. Nezahat Teke, representing the Peace Mothers, spoke about the process.
Nezahat Teke stated that she would express herself as much as she could in Turkish. Nezahat Teke said: "Everyone wants the weapons to be laid down, but we expect concrete steps in return."
'I SHOULD BURY THE GUNS IN THE GROUND, NOT OUR CHILDREN'
Emphasising that those who die the most are the ones who want peace the most, she reminded that her daughter set her body on fire at the age of 19 against the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and said: “For 25 years the smell of my daughter’s hair burning has been in my nose. You will ask, ‘Will your daughter come back if there is peace?’ Of course my daughter will not come back. I cried; other mothers should not. Let’s bury the guns in the ground not our children. When we ask for peace, the prosecutor tells us, ‘There is no war,’ If there is no war, why are people dying? Whatever you call it, there is something that people are dying.”
'WE KNOW THAT ÖCALAN IS MAKING EFFORTS FOR A SOLUTION'
Nezahat Teke emphasised that the commission has great duties and said: “Imralı is involved. We know that Ocalan is making efforts for a solution. The commission should also meet with Ocalan and work together. Let’s do whatever it takes.
