Journalist Heval Arslan detained 2025-09-25 15:05:36   NEWS CENTER - Medya Haber TV presenter and journalist Heval Arslan was detained at the police station in Ninove, Belgium.    Heval Arslan was detained without a court order. All her belongings were confiscated and she was subjected to strip search and put in a cell. After her detention, journalist Heval Arslan was intimidated that she would be sent to France and then to Turkey. Arslan was denied a passport at the Turkish Consulate where she went to renew her passport.   Heval Arslan's right to travel freely and practise her profession was also taken away.   Heval Arslan, who decided to live in Belgium to continue her journalistic activities, has applied for asylum in recent months. It remains unclear whether she will be granted asylum if she is extradited to France. There is also a danger that Heval Arslan will be handed over to Turkey, where there are many cases and arrest warrants against her.   WHO IS HEVAL ARSLAN?    Heval Arslan has worked at Roj Tv, Med Nûçe and Medya Haber Tv since 2003. She had to migrate to France with her family when she was only 5-6 years old.   Arslan, who grew up in France, completed her education there and graduated from the press and broadcasting department at university. She was denied citizenship in France, where she lived for many years. Heval Arslan, who is also a founding member and board member of the Kurdish Women's Association-RO-JIN, established under Belgian law, is currently being held at the deportation centre in Bruges.
